When starting any kind of training program, you want to get a snapshot at where you are starting. This is important for a couple reasons:
1) You get a base for what you are able to do
2) It gives us a gauge for improvement as we keep training
Below is a link to some basic screening tools you can use to figure out your base movement ability. Click and watch the video then use the scoring sheet to see where you are at!
On top of our ability to move, we want to know what our stamina and strength are before we start going through a workout program. That is because this will help give us that bench mark to understand where we are currently at fitness wise, and then where we should go based on our results.

One place where a lot of programs fall short is not giving you the chance to succeed. We can always make sure we are going to get the most out of our workouts by making sure we are ready to take them head on! This is done by owning your warm up!
This video has a great full body warm up you can do that will get you ready for almost any workout!
Exercise can be great for your fitness and overall health, however, sometimes exercise can be a double edged sword!
Can you think of a time when you were working out and maybe felt a random ache or pain? Or better yet, do you have any old injuries that you can feel when you are doing specific exercises? Maybe shoulder pain during push ups, or knee pain during squats?
That is where corrective exercise comes in. Before we hit the "real" workout, there are a series of smaller exercises that are meant to correct the form of the prime exercises we will be doing. Think the warm up after the warm up
Don't be confused though. Just because these aren't the main movements, they can be extremely difficult to do correctly, and that's where the benefit is.
Usually we will do corrective exercise because they move a certain muscle or joint in very specific way that we may not be great at, yet is crucial for healthy movement!
If you are interested in seeing more corrective exercises, finish your movement screening, and check the corrective exercises on in the link below!
The all mighty MetCon! The best workout there is; burns more calories, builds more muscle, increase flexibility, and makes you live forever!
Okay so truthfully, those statements aren't entirely true. The words metabolic conditioning, or Metcon, get thrown around a lot in this day and age. The truth is, everything can be some sort of metabolic conditioning, just different styles. That is because, in a nutshell, our metabolism is just our bodies ability to use fuel to give us energy. Whether we use it to build muscle, burn calories, or just get us through our day with better energy and a clear head, it's all based on our metabolism.
Functional training uses the actual principals behind physiological metabolic processes to help us increase our fitness and overall health. If you want to master metabolic conditioning and use it to increase your health in the long term and put an edge to your training, click the link below and check out our metabolic profiling systems!
